I started painting when I retired in 2000. A neighbour encouraged me to paint .I sat and watched him for about 6 weeks on a Tuesday.
Then it was hands on ,bit by bit from humble sketching to todays efforts its grown, thanks to him. Sadly he moved away about 4 years ago and I no longer keep in touch.
I dont do as much now as I used to. I seem to have other things to do. Like all things it takes time. I have had several commissions also sold quite a number of paintings.
But my proud moment was when the Kent MCC asked me to paint Lord Bath ,as we had a rally planned for Longleet. It was difficult to find any photos of him to copy eventually I found the one above but it was black and white so the colour interpretation is mine.
I had the pleasure of presenting this to him on our coffee morning on which he joined us.
I asked him what would he do with it, and to my surprise he said he would hang it in his private quarters.
A year later some friends returned to Longleet and had a tour of the house. The tour included his quarters and sure enough my painting was amongst many in his private collection
